About Our Program

Our music therapy internship program provides students with the opportunity to develop their clinical skills through hands-on experiences, collaboration, and mentorship from our team of board-certified music therapists.

Interns gain experience working with individuals of different ages, abilities, and needs through individual and group music therapy sessions. Throughout the internship, students will have opportunities to observe, co-lead, and gradually facilitate sessions with increasing independence under the supervision of our clinical team.

We believe that a successful internship involves both learning and contributing. Our program is designed for students who are motivated to grow professionally, take initiative, and become active members of our team.

We accept a limited number of interns to ensure we can provide meaningful clinical experiences, individualized feedback, and appropriate supervision.

What to Expect

Clinical Experiences

Work alongside music therapists in individual and group sessions, supporting clients with a variety of developmental, social, emotional, and therapeutic needs.

Mentorship & Professional Growth

Receive clinical supervision, feedback, and opportunities to develop session planning, documentation, musical, and clinical skills.

Community

Participate in team trainings, community events, recitals, summer camps, and other programs that are part of our organization's work.

Collaboration

Learn to collaborate with other music therapists, communicate professionally, and contribute to a supportive team environment.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for music therapy students who are excited to develop their skills and gain experience in a collaborative clinical environment.

Our ideal internship candidates demonstrate:

  • Strong foundational musical skills, including functional guitar, piano, and voice skills.

  • Professionalism and reliability, including arriving prepared, managing responsibilities, and communicating effectively.

  • Initiative and adaptability, with the ability to problem-solve, respond to client needs, and take an active role in learning.

  • Openness to feedback, including applying recommendations and reflecting on clinical experiences.

  • Interest in working with diverse populations, particularly individuals with developmental disabilities, children, and community-based programs.

  • Collaboration and teamwork, with a willingness to support other music therapists and contribute to our programs.

We understand that interns are still developing their clinical skills. We do not expect applicants to have all the answers, but we do look for students who demonstrate preparation, accountability, curiosity, and a genuine interest in learning.
