Music Therapist (MT-BC)

Full-Time W2
[ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS]
New graduates and candidates open to relocating are welcome to apply.

Why this role is different

When you join us, you become part of a small, passionate practice on a mission to become the leading provider of music therapy and neuro-affirming music services in Orange County. Because we were founded by a music therapist, your clinical work is understood and valued at every level, and our leadership is invested in your success.

You will be trusted as a professional and given the autonomy to develop your own clinical voice, in a workplace we have intentionally built to be supportive, collaborative, and fulfilling.

In this full-time W2 position, you will have steady hours and a client schedule managed by our Client Success Manager, so you can devote your energy to quality care. You will have your own dedicated office space, the tools you need, and the backing of a close-knit team, rather than the isolation common in other settings.

We also believe your day-to-day experience matters. You will find the office stocked with snacks, coffee, and drinks, and a nearby pond that offers a quiet place to recharge over lunch or between sessions. Each week we gather for team meetings and trainings to learn from one another, celebrate our wins, and connect as a team beyond the work itself.

Wherever you are in your career, you will have room to grow. If you are early on, you will receive mentorship and clinical supervision to build a strong foundation. If you are experienced, you will find the stability and team to do your best work. Either way, you will have a clear career path and the support to pursue the clinical interests that matter most to you.

What you will do

You will provide client-centered music therapy, adapted lessons, and traditional music lessons to children and adults across Orange County, both at our studio and in clients’ homes, schools, and senior facilities.

Many of the people you will serve are members of our community who have limited opportunities and spaces designed with them in mind. Most are neurodiverse, and with us they find a place where they feel safe, welcomed, and understood. The work you do helps them grow, connect, and thrive.

Day to day, you will:

  • Assess clients’ social, emotional, communication, physical, and cognitive needs and design personalized treatment plans
  • Lead individual and group sessions using a range of musical interventions, and reassess as clients progress
  • Keep clear, accurate documentation of progress and session notes
  • Collaborate with our lead Music Therapist, team members, families, teachers, and other providers (speech, OT, PT) for client-centered care
  • Take part in community events like recitals and outreach

You will primarily serve children and adults with autism, sensory processing differences, developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, and ADHD.

Who we are looking for

Required:

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), or board-eligible and sitting for the exam soon
  • Functional skills on piano, guitar, voice, and percussion
  • A client-centered, neurodiversity-affirming approach

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
